Under PL Article 110, an attempt occurs when someone intends the crime and engages in conduct that comes “dangerously close/very near” to completion.

Example: John aims and fires multiple rounds at Jim but missesAttempted Murder.

Attempted offenses are charged one degree lower than the completed crime (e.g., Attempted Murder = Class B felony).
