Felony conviction doesn’t always mean losing your vote.
To vote in NY, you must:
- Be a U.S. citizen, 18+, resident 30+ days;
- Not currently incarcerated for a felony;
- Not adjudged mentally incompetent.
Those on probation or parole can vote, and rights are restored upon release. Under Corrections Law §75, NYS DOCS must notify released inmates their right is reinstated.
